Scope of
Collections
|
The
Molly Brown House Museum collections scope is two-fold: 1) We collect
any and all artifacts that belonged to Margaret Tobin Brown; and 2)
We collect artifacts dating from the time the Browns lived at 1340
Pennsylvania - 1894 - 1912, with a specific focus on items the Browns
would have had in the house. Original photos Margaret had taken of
the house in 1910 are used to recreate an original setting in terms
of furnishings and decor. Artifacts include everything from furniture,
china, silver, and crystal to artwork, photographs, and textiles.
There is a wide variety in the style of the objects displayed ranging
from typical Victorian decoration to a unique representation of Margaret's
extensive world travels and eclectic taste. Additionally, the Molly
Brown House Museum owns an extensive fashions collection covering
the years of Margaret's life - 1867-1932. Fashions include women's
wear, men's wear, children's and infant's clothing as well as various
accessories. All collection objects are for exhibit purposes only
and are stored, preserved and exhibited using museum accepted practices.
